Podcast: Toys, toys, toys!

In this, the seventh episode of the Octacast, we discuss everyone’s favorite childhood toys! My only disappointment is that due to shows at iO I was unable to offer my two cents and discuss my favorite toy growing up: a 4-foot-tall replica of a McDonalds.

McDonalds playset!

Yeah, it was like this. Except that it opened up from the middle, was way more badass, and didn't contain a child.

Needless to say, there is some excellent discussion within that brought back a lot of memories. Also, hear how Marc and Mikula are awful foodcrafters, and listen to another one of Keith’s stories that proves that growing up Tennessee sure isn’t what we’re used to. Enjoy!

Ten Haiku Written By Trees

I wrote these all yesterday afternoon. If you didn’t think it was possible to write ten different tree haiku, then I guess I just proved you wrong. Eat those words. Om nom nom.

Anyway, enjoy.

Tree.

Tree.

Tree.

Podcast: Robert joins an intellectual discussion.

Happy Monday! In this our sixth episode of the  OctaCast (which I believe we claim is only our fifth on the recording), Southerner of the Week Robert Hughes joins us for an entirely highbrow round-table discussion. I won’t spoil the topic for you before you hear it, but I will say that this episode gets [...]

An urgent message from Computerland. Respond immediately!

Message from: Antivirus Vista 2010
Message to: The Internets
Hello, inferior beings. Or perhaps, since the celestial body that you call “Sun” has already passed its apex, you would be more comfortable with the traditional salutation of “good afternoon, inferior beings.”
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Antivirus Vista 2010, the newest Supreme Overlord of Tinz’s [...]

I will get us more time to sleep. With science.

All too often I find myself staying up too late at night and not getting as much sleep as I should as a result. Throughout my entire adult life I have struggled with the dilemma of how much fun I have at night versus how tired I can afford to feel in the morning. This [...]

Podcast: Quit playing Mario and listen to us talk about Mario!

In this, our fifth installment of the OctaCast, we tackle some serious issues within the Mushroom Kingdom. Download the podcast below (or at the Octavarius page in the iTunes Store) to hear thoughtful, intelligent conversation on:

The futility of Mario’s endless princess-rescuing days
Princess Peach’s intentions with Mario (or lack thereof)
Whether or not scorpions deserve their own [...]

Go For The GhoOoOould!

Before the 2010 Winter Olympics end and we go back to (let’s be honest) forgetting that they existed in the first place, let us think fondly back…
…to how spoOoOoOoky men’s figure skating was!!
That is all.

Podcast: Can we please finally address the sensitive subject of curling?

Happy Podcast Day, everyone! In our fourth episode, we discuss the Olympic events that have had us mildly glued to our seats, explore whether Nickelback or Creed deserves the title of World’s Worst Band, and discover BWo’s 14-year-old life that he’s kept secret from us for years.
This week’s podcast also features guest blogger and good [...]

SpongeBob Squarepants is a hideous monster.

For reasons unknown, I happened upon a Spongebob Squarepants Facebook group yesterday. A few fan-submitted pictures caught my eye. They are disgusting. Enjoy.
