My mother was not very happy. That was when I was 12. Now I am 24 and my manners have worsened and my fear of stupid shit is greater, thus I expect to get kicked out again.Brian, will you join me?

the last time I went to an art museum, I was with my dad, and we both got kicked out. I wish they didn't feel the need to define their specific "meaning" for me. When they tell me what it's supposed to mean then I judge it based on whether it was successful at conveying that specific meaning. Which, in the case of most modern art, it isn't.

I kind of enjoy the confusion of looking at a modern art piece. But I'd probably enjoy it more if the artists were all, "I like purple and black together so I did this" or "circles are boss" or "I made this based on a fucked up dream I had a couple nights ago." Otherwise it turns into incoherent middle school diorama, a la Mr. Gober. On the other hand, wacky and hilarious mocking would be less possible with less pretentious artists.PS my favorite part of this story was Little Marc, who I assime already had a hearty beard and knew what "fusion" meant at age 7.

I often enjoy modern art for the colors & shapes & weird imagery. I've expressed this to many a person, as I do feel very strong about it. In fact, it makes me feel kinda dumb for not getting it, and I didn't go to the art museum to feel dumb, I went so I can reference it and make OTHER people feel dumb. So thanks modern sculpture/art, thank you for emphasizing my insecurities.

I’m with your dad Marc, sometime I just don’t get modern art, especially sculpture.
