This morning I plugged my iPod into my computer to sync it for the morning commute to Hoffman Estates. ( I had maybe 300 MB worth of music to add.) After ten minutes  I saw no progress in the music sync-up, so I ejected the iPod. I found that in an astonishing feat of inefficiency, the computer decided that the best way to add my new music was to first remove all of my music and then add all of the songs back in, with the new material included, one by one. This is akin to me adding a few files to a cabinet by first turning it upside down to empty its contents. Needless to say, the high school that I work at was unable to postpone classes for the 3 1/2 hours  that it would take to finish, so I was left to drive to work listening to the radio. Like some sort of caveman.

This morning’s fiasco has officially made my decision on what I’m going to do with my eventual tax return. I will finally replace my 5-year-old computer processor. Considering that most of us have just recently filed our taxes, I thought I’d pose the question: what unnecessary item will you spend your tax return on? Or if you owed the guv’ment money, what would you have spent that money on instead?
