Currently, I am vacationing/celebrating Christmas down in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina with my family.  Last night, after a delicious dinner, my brothers and I ventured off of the Island to find a Super Walmart.  My brother, Brian, was looking for a knife.  Walmart has knives.

So anyway, after our trip to Walmart, I realized that we were only 5 minutes from an ice cream shop I was at about a year and a half earlier!  I demanded we go, insisting to my brothers that it was the best ice cream they’ll ever have.  They seemed pretty suspicious, but were glad to give it a shot.

The ice cream shop is tucked away in a terrible location (in terms of finding it without a smart phone). But eventually we found it, and headed into the little ice cream shop called “Jack Frost Home Made Ice Cream.”

This!

Not this.

There, sitting at a table reading was a shorter man who jumped up at our arrival.  He invited us to sample as many flavors as possible, informing us that they are all hand made BY HIM.  My first taste was an ice cream called “Blueberry Pie.”

It tasted like straight up blueberry pie, all the way down to a graham cracker crust bits mixed into the dessert.  I went on to try the “pumpkin pie” (again, it tasted exactly like pumpkin pie) and “Graceland,” which was a mixture of banana flavored ice cream (not banana flavor flavored ice cream, I’m talking it tastes more like banana than it tastes like ice cream) chocolate bits, and peanut butter.

My bother Dave and my sister-in-law Sarah tried a few varying samples that they raved about as well, and we ended up buying 4 pints of ice cream.  We got Graceland, Pumpkin Pie, a caramel based one that had a name like “Pluff,” and a chocolate based one with an equally strange name.

The best part? The ice cream was wildly inexpensive.  Each pint was only 6 dollars!  Seriously, this is the best ice cream ever, and it’s cheaper than the stuff at the store.

Wait, just a second ago when I said “The best part?” I didn’t mean it.  The real best part was when the owner, Dave, threw in over a pint of pistachio ice cream for free for no reason.

So much ice cream! YUMMO! GUMMO!

If you are ever in the Savannah, GA or Hilton Head Island, SC area, make sure you stop here for some of the best ice cream you’ll ever have.  Here’s a link to the website, which includes a commercial featuring the voice of the ice cream maker himself.

Now what you’ve all been waiting for…
