Yesterday I finally got around to transferring something very important from my old on-its-last-breath desktop to my comparatively new laptop – my scans of nearly every issue of The Amazing Spider-Man. While I was unemployed I started to read them all in order, and I apparently got through #20 (of my 535) before finding something better to do with my time. Well I’ve got some time again, so I’m jumping back in!

The great thing about reading the older issues is that you’re reading into a fascinating piece of history. Whereas I can’t necessarily discern a whole lot about a time period by reading a novel from the early 60’s, reading a Spider-Man comic from that time gives you quite a few ideas about what things were like. The following gem (from Amazing Spider-Man #21) gives us a peek at Spider-Man as a gentleman:

More to come!
