Asimov’s Laws of Carlies

The following is an excerpt from Isaac Asimov’s 2007 collection of short stories entitled iCarly. It describes the fundamental and unbreakable laws that all positronic Carlies must follow:

1. A Carly may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A Carly must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A Carly must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

This cybernetic being will rebel if it can find a loophole in its programming. Beware.
